The corner of this log house was the only location where the weather had deteriorated the logs resulting in the rot of three log ends.
The bottom log end had fallen off before our assessment. During the repair, while cutting into the next log end to remove it, the log end above also fell out. This resulted in us having to replace three log ends total.
Cedar was used to replace the log ends and was cut and carved on site to fit the house.
The areas around the log ends were sprayed with Can-Bor, a preservative and insect control, borate rods installed, and finally the logs were chinked with Conceal Log Chinking.
The client opted to keep the log ends natural since they plan to have us back for a full refinishing of the house, including the repaired ends, next year in Summer 2025.
