Initially we were asked to come to inspect this house for suspected rotting log ends and to replace the log ends with new pieces. The client preferred us to come for one trip instead of the usual assessment and return with materials. Upon arrival, the log ends were found to be rotting and, on top of that, a 14 ft section of the lateral logs that make up the wall and the sill plate were rotted. This project was split into two parts since the rot was more extensive then initially presumed. We replaced the four log ends on one trip and then ordered custom milled 7" Swedish Cope logs to replace the rotten ones. A pressure treated sill plate was also installed and the repair was stained to match the house.
